Jerry Jones Throws in the Towel on Terrible Terrell
by peterdean ~ March 4th, 2009.
According to ESPN’s Michael Smith, citing not one but, two sources, the Cowboys have just released WR Terrell Owens reminding us once again who the real star is in Dallas.

That's right, I'm the Star!
What this means for the Cowboys is a small cap hit and $5.77 million in cash can go back into Jerry’s pocket. It also means Jerry is in the hunt for a new receiver. You know right now T.J. Houshmandzadeh is kicking himself for signing his contract with the Seahawks a phew days to early.
For T.O. this means another chance to do sit-ups in his driveway, flap his mouth about how awful his previous team was, promise to make a difference the next time, then get signed and begin to poison yet another team just looking to make a Superbowl push. T.O. scored 5 TDs in the Cowboy’s final 8 games while averaging 18.9 yards per catch. He’s got a lot left in the tank, of course his hot air tank is always phull. Expect the usual emotional tirade to begin by Friday. Also keep in mind when T.O. was released the last time he only got offers from two teams. He may be waiting for someone to get injured in preseason or training camp before he is offered a job.

They plotted against me... I'm just an innocent victim!
But what teams would actually have an interest in T.O.? The Broncos (please god no…) are expecting an 8 game suspension for Brandon Marshall, but its unlikely a Belichick disciple would take an ego like T.O.’s in the locker room. The Jets just lost Coles and T.O. could try the New York market. Most likely it will be the same two teams that go for the high price free agents; The Raiders and the Redskins. Ugh. Can we really deal with another Dan Snyder failure? The Redskins, where good free agents go to cash in one phinal time before retirement? Or worse, put Terrell where he belongs, in the silver and black, where insanity (read Al Davis) reigns.
Mr. Owens should start packing his bags now. It must take a long time to organize all that baggage.

He must ship his ego via UPS phreight
I’m Peter Dean and that’s my rant.
P.S. You know when it comes down to it, there is really only one thing left to do:

Most clubs could have solved their problem with 5 cents worth of duct tape.

From Rotoworld:
Both SI’s Peter King and Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post believe Oakland is the most likely landing spot for free agent Terrell Owens.
Al Davis needs weapons to support JaMarcus Russell, and the Raiders won’t worry about chemistry issues. Still, Owens might hesitate to go there. He’ll want to play in 2009, but hasn’t been on a perennial loser in a long time.

Jaguars GM Gene Smith says he has “no interest” in free agent Terrell Owens.
The Jags have an obvious need at wide receiver, but they had enough team turmoil of their own last season. The “anti-T.O. List” is now up to 15 teams. He’s almost through half the league.
